NO RAISE FOR YOU...

okay mad stressful day. The morning was as usual and a few minutes before lunch at 11:15AM, i received a call and an email from our storage facility manager.
It read, "Tony, we had a small incident with some of the equipment being shipped to you. ..As the pallets were being transported for loading onto the trailer, we damaged two components. I have enclosed photos of the damage. The crate is being put back together. We can have the components sent to you, tomorrow morning. Please advise how you would like to proceed with this."
I flipped out! Just weeks before the Major turbine outage, as we were pulling parts off the shelves to deliver to the station, two parts got damaged!! replacement parts have long lead times and cost six figures.. no joke. I called a few vendors and we are CRAZY fortunate that they can repair it in a few days. see the photos.
the daym crate exploded once it made contact with the floor-- 10 feet from the forklift picks damaging its contents.
I think the plant managers would have REALLY flipped out but after seeing how insane I was-- they found it rather humorous!

No wife this weekend....

well, the title is misleading... im still married. "No wife" doesnt mean im single but that im FREE to do as i please--to a certain extent. When i found out my wife was going to killa cali for the long weekend, i wanted to plan a "boyz" outing somehwere FAR FAR away. This day has come and im still here in NYC, without any plans. NO wife, No party, No go. boo. Im going to hang with the parents and most likely hit up the race track Sunday so stay tuned for some r/c racing footage. Monday, ill just clean up the house and work on developing my website which is under heavy construction. PowerPlantForum.com bookmark this!

Im hooked on blogging.....

My blog has been lacking since I joined last year... i did it because my wife was pressuring me to post stuff up. I thought it was a waste of time. Check it, I posted THREE posts in a matter of a few days. i think im hooked but who's reading this, who the heck is interested in my life and my thoughts? I dont care... this is like a personal diary without the ranting and raging about specific people.
I'll continue to post random thoughts, life events, and I hope you all can learn something new and interesting from my posts.... ENJOY!

Homer Simpson.....

Here's a special treat for those wondering what the central control center at a power plant looks like. 10,000 monitors and one giant RED button.... sorry due to security reasons i cant disclose the location of this central control center. Where are the personnel? DOOOH!

Work, work, work....

Okay, you get the jest of this posting from reading the title of this blurb. I work long hours from 7AM to 6PM. Not by choice but rather theres soooooooooo much to get accomplished and 8 hours is JUST NOT ENOUGH! Its not a matter of not being able to managing my time wisely but the lack of support and knowledge within the company. I'm involved with developing and overseeing the combustion turbine maintenance and operation program for the company from scratch so there wasn't a template to begin with. Old timers are set in their antiquated work ethics and cant keep up with fast pace, high demand from today's workforce. In addition the generating industry has moved from manually operating valves and knobs to the push of a button with high technological equipment. For the young bucks, they adapt easier in this digital era..but for the older folgies they are subborn in their old ways. Like they say, its diffifult to teach an old dog new tricks. Anyways, the challenges faced at work stimulates my creative juices but i need the balance between work and family. The attrition rate is crazy high which gives a positive outlook on how the employees are treated and the benefits received. hopefully ill stick around long enough to realize and appreciate the comapany but in the meantime, the clocks ticking and the door is wide open for a quick dash, stage left.... "westcyde!".
